Becoming a Certified
Anybody Can Play Teacher
A certified Anybody Can Play teacher is in business for
her/himself. A REQUIREMENT is experience with preschool aged
children. Some music background is also required, but not
necessarily in piano.
The Anybody Can Play program is a piano lesson program designed for
very young children (as young as 3) in the preschool environment.
You, as an Anybody Can Play Certified Teacher, are in business for
yourself. You do your own recruiting, set your own tuition fees,
do your own collecting, and set your own schedules. You pay a
$10.00 per child per month royalty to Anybody Can Play which gives you
access to all the
Anybody Can Play lesson materials, lesson suggestions, manipulatives,
recruitment materials, marketing materials, posters, workshops,
etc.
The Anybody Can Play program enjoys, and has enjoyed for 30 years, a
wonderful reputation for being a program that is appropriate and
enjoyable for the children. The author of the program has also
designed an inter-active piano teaching web-site for young children for
the Baldwin Piano Division of Gibson-Baldwin which just recently
launched (www.mylittlebaldwin.com). This web-site will make the
preschool program in the schools even stronger because it is completely
compatible with the Anybody Can Play program and will provide a fun way
for the children to practice on their own.
Any teacher going into a preschool must meet all state requirements for
working with groups of children (CPR, background check, ongoing
education (If you choose to participate in ACP workshop/training
sessions,
this counts toward this requirement).
Income possibilities:
“Outside” preschool programs can cost anywhere between $40 and
$60 or more a
month plus any fees paid back to the preschool for use of their
facility. Small classes number 3 or 4. Experienced teachers can
easily teach 5-6 at a time – more with an assistant. Classes are
generally half an hour long.
Quality piano lesson programs are in demand. Please note,
“QUALITY”. In a school with 100 or more children ages 3-5,
programs can grow to large numbers after a teacher has proven to
parents and school staff that she/he is a professional. This is
not the kind of business where all you do is put in your time.
One must be goal oriented. The children do need to
progress. Progress is how your success is measured – by the
school, the children, and by their parents.
PROFESSIONALISM
- Be on time, well groomed, pleasant,
- Live up to the rules of the school,
- Treat the children with dignity and understanding,
parents with grace
and courtesy, and the school staff with courtesy and consideration
Professionalism goes even beyond the obvious. You are always
completely prepared. Your actions tell all those around you that
you take pride in your business and you feel fortunate that you can
work with young children in a business you love.
